Police in Florida have arrested a teenager for allegedly drawing up a $1,200 contract for a classmate to kill his father, stepmother and brother.
The 14-year-old boy was arrested in Port St. Lucie, Florida, after he attempted to “hire” a friend to carry out the murders and make the crime look like a burglary gone wrong, according to the police.
The teen’s father discovered the handwritten note, along with a folding knife in his bag, police wrote in the charging document. (Scroll down for the video.)
1. Police say the 14-year-old drew up a $1,200 contract for a classmate to kill his father, stepmother and brother.
2. Police in Port St. Lucie (pictured) say the note was an agreement between the teen and a friend. Officers say the teen was plotting for the family members to be killed in a burglary-gone-wrong scenario.
The note wrote:
I (name redacted) will be hitman for hire for (defendant’s name redacted) to murder (names redacted) and (name redacted).
I am aware that if I do not go through with it I will not get paid. Money in question we agreed upon was 1200 dollars. I will leave in an hour or two within the murder.
According to the Port St. Lucie police, the note was an agreement between the boy and a friend that the latter would kill members of the boy’s family members for $1,200.
When questioned, the 14-year-old, who has not been identified, told the police that he was plotting for his family members to be killed in what would look like a burglary gone wrong.
3. The boy is said to have told officers that he had been in trouble for getting bad grades at school and that he had been grounded.
The teenager has been arrested and charged with solicitation to commit first-degree murder.
The NY Daily News reports that the boy, who is currently in juvenile detention, had not had the money or a gun to be used in the attack.
However, police officers wrote that the teen had been depressed and wanted to hurt himself, though he had not yet planned how to do it.
The boy’s father told the police that his son took a knife to school last year and threatened to kill classmates.
The teen has reportedly told police officers that he had been in trouble for receiving bad grades at school and that he had been grounded. According to The NY Daily News, the document reads:
The defendant stated that he has had a “built up anger” towards them (his family) and he wanted his family killed.
He did tell me that he has thought about killing his family in the past, but was unsure how he would carry it out.
The boy’s friend and intended “hitman” told the police that he thought the whole thing was a joke and it is reported that he will not be facing charges.
