A new video of Spider-Man making a surprise birthday visit to a terminally-ill five-year-old boy has gone viral in a huge way. It will be something he will remember for the rest of his life.
Unfortunately, the doctors have only given Jayden Wilson about a year to live, after diagnosing him with a Grade 4 Brain Stem Tumor — the fastest-growing and most malignant of its type.
To help the boy get the most of his remaining days, his father Michael decided to dress up as the superhero for Jayden’s fifth birthday and jump down from the roof of their home to greet him.
Mr. Wilson, whose profession as free runner enabled him to emulate Spider-Man’s acrobatic exploits told the BBC:
I wanted to do something different for Jayden. His face was exactly what I expected — shock and happiness.
He explained that he pretended to go out to the store for some more party supplies, but instead he “snuck upstairs, dressed up in the costume and went out the window”. “It went amazingly”, he added.
Mr. Wilson said he only uploaded the video on YouTube on 16 November so he could get rid of space on his computer. Then he noticed that the video started to take off. He said:
It’s gone bonkers, it literally went viral overnight. It went amazingly.
In only a week since being posted, the video has been viewed close to seven million times. Mr. Wilson added:
I’m so proud I managed to do this for him, it shares a good message out there.
Such an awesome surprise and such a sad story…
