A California Police Officer Smashes The Window Of A Moving Car To Save A Driver Passed Out Behind The Wheel.

A California Highway Patrol officer smashed the window of a moving car to rescue the driver who had passed out behind the wheel on a San Diego freeway.

Police officers found 25-year-old Amber Morgan in her car on the 805 Freeway near Clairemont Mesa Boulevard just before 1 am. Her car’s engine was running, the windows were up and the doors were locked.

One of the officers tried to wake Morgan by tapping on her window, however the car started rolling down the freeway. That’s when the officer jumped into action and broke the window on the passenger side. (Scroll down for the video.)

Once he smashed the glass, the officer reached in the car through the window to unlock the passenger door and managed to pull the emergency brake to stop the vehicle.

Officer Albert Udam told ABC 7:

It’s an extreme danger at that point. That’s why we had to resort to trying to get the vehicle to stop, because it didn’t appear that she was able to.

The officer who broke the window and rescued the woman received a minor cut on his hand.

Morgan was then arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and the officers found a large bottle of alcohol and other drinks on the backseat. Morgan was held on $2,500 bail.
