A Florida School Bus Driver Is Hailed As A Hero After Helping 20 Students To Escape Moments Before Her Bus Caught Fire.

A Florida school bus driver is hailed as a hero after getting 20 students, ranging from kindergartners to 8th-graders, off of her bus immediately before it burst into flames.

The unidentified woman was driving her students to Cape Preparatory and Fitness Academy in Cape Coral on Wednesday at around 7:30 am when she smelled fumes. The driver immediately pulled the bus over and proceeded to evacuate all the students.

And just a few minutes later, the whole bus was on fire and the driver called 911. (Scroll down for the video.)

Firefighters responded to the scene and managed to put out the fire which created huge clouds of thick black smoke. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Hasan Almoumani, a local resident, was taking his daughter to school at the time when he saw the fire and caught it all on camera. Almoumani told WINK:

It was a big fire, it was the biggest fire I’ve ever seen in my life. The scary part, that the whole thing went up in flames in less than two minutes.

According to officials, the fire was caused by a mechanical problem in the bus’ engine.
