A moment of kindness has spread like wildfire all over social media. A Kansas City police officer, who insisted on not being identified, is being hailed as a hero for helping to save two dogs who became separated from their owners.
The dogs had escaped the safety of their home in Kansas City and the officer spotted them, lying exhausted on the side of a busy highway. He pulled his motorcycle over and sat there, keeping the dogs company until a shelter could pick them up. Kansas City resident Debbie Davis happened to drive by and she noticed the scene. She said:
It’s cold. Most people wouldn’t look twice at some dogs running around. As I pull up, it’s a motorcycle cop sitting in the cold grass with two stray — or what appears to be stray dogs, just sitting there petting them.
Debbie took a photo of the police officer and the dogs and shared it on Facebook where thousands saw it. Later, the dogs’ owners, Austin and Ashley Mozingo, went to the KC Pet Project to pick them up. Austin said:
I think that’s an awesome story. It’s good to know there are still police officers out there who still enjoy helping out the community, especially in helping out such sweet dogs.
It is an awesome story and, boy, do we need more of them…
