A Kind Passer-By Jumps In A River To Rescue A Fledgling Seagull From Drowning.

A kind passer-by was photographed jumping into the Charles River at the Boston Waterfront to save a fledgling seagull who was still too young to fly and struggling to stay afloat.

The woman had waited for about an hour, hoping that the bird will float ashore. However, when the seagull kept going in circles, she jumped in to rescue it.

It was no short distance to reach the seagull out into the River Charles (which at this point reaches the ocean), but the rescuer was able to grab the bird and swim with it back to shore.

The unnamed rescuer then took the seagull chick home for the night, before finding an expert to care for it from there.

She explained in an email:

I think the bird is going to be just fine!!

After a few hours of rest, it stood up and then finally ate bread soaked in water, which we read to do online.

The left wing was still drooping and causing it to trip and stumble that night, but by the morning the wing looks back to normal.

It ate again in the morning and by then I found a wildlife rehabilitator that would take him in and she said she just loved seagulls.
