A man has rescued a kangaroo from a slow and painful death in Australia’s outback by freeing it from a metal cattle grid where it had become stuck, hanging upside down between the bars.
Footage from the rescue shows the man approaching the marsupial in South Australia’s Flinders Ranges and grabs hold of his legs, as the distressed kangaroo cries out.
As the rescuer pulls on the kangaroo’s legs, the huffing and puffing grows louder and a child is heard telling the man to “get away, get away”.
A young kangaroo was found stuck in a cattle grate in the Flinders Ranges, abut 120 miles north of Adelaide.
Here is the video of the rescue:
And here are the highlights:
A man stopped to help the marsupial, with some kind words and hard tugs.
As the kangaroo began to make agitated noises, a child watching on tells the man to “get away, get away”.
However, he persevered and was able to free the kangaroo after a short struggle.
The kangaroo immediately tried to run away from his savior and the grate that could have killed him.
As the man and children waved goodbye to their marsupial friend, a child’s voice can be heard saying “I hope you have a nice life”.
