A popular mother grizzly, whose life with her three cubs is live-streamed from Alaska, was filmed rescuing her cubs after they were somehow swept by the rushing river in which she was fishing.
The bear is known as Grazer to her internet fans and the footage was taken on Bearcam, a live camera set up jointly by Katmai National Park and explore.org, an organization with more than 100 cameras streaming across the world.
As she sees her first cub take an unexpected swim down the river, mama bear realizes that her baby might be in trouble. But then she is distracted when she sees cub number two come down the waves, then number three follows soon.
Mama bear Grazer watches not one but two of her cubs go over Brooks Falls, she starts to get nervous.
Here is the video:
And here are the highlights:
She runs through the water to the side of the falls so she can get down to where her cubs floated.
Grazer dives into the water and gallops over to where her cubs are being dragged by the river.
She gets them safely to shore and then goes back for the third cub, who is also tumbling over the falls.
Bears gather in large groups at Brooks Falls in Alaska, where they feed on plentiful sockeye salmon — as many as 25 bears at a time can be seen near the falls in peak feeding season.
