A 29-year-old registered sex offender is charged with throwing a miniature Dachshund and a cat into the trash chute of his building in Queens, New York.
Michael Hutchinson threw Lola the Dachshund, now renamed Belle, down the trash chute on May 14, which left the canine with serious injuries.
Then, about a week later, a dead cat was found in the same building’s basement. Police believe that the feline had also been thrown down the chute by the same man.

2. Lola the Dachshund, now renamed Belle (pictured), was seriously injured and is being cared for by the ASPCA pending an investigation.
Authorities identified Hutchinson as the owner of both animals on Friday and charged him with animal cruelty.
This is not Hutchinson’s first brush with the law. In 2006, he was convicted of drugging and raping a 15-year-old girl, court records reveal. He spent about a year behind bars and was on probation for four years.
Hutchinson reportedly spent the day after he killed the cat at a friend’s house for a birthday party, while police were looking for him.
He was arrested on Wednesday after he admitted killing the cat, named Monkey, who was found by two porters at about 7:15 am on May 20, according to police.
Belle the Dachshund is being cared for by the ASPCA pending an investigation, according to Natasha Whitling, an agency spokeswoman. She added that it was too early to discuss adoption.
