A 15-year-old with Crohn’s disease is using medical marijuana after mainstream pharmaceutical drugs couldn’t help cure his illness.
Coltyn Turner has been fighting Crohn’s disease, a type of inflammatory bowel disease, since he was 11, but was losing the battle.
Desperate to try anything that might help, his parents moved from the Midwest to Colorado in 2014, so they could turn to cannabis oil. (Scroll down for the video and the poll.)

Describing the experience of fighting Crohn’s disease prior to his family’s move to Colorado, Coltyn told CBS Denver:
I was just on every pharmaceutical there was out there until I would up in a wheelchair.
Since the family arrived in Colorado, Coltyn has been taking cannabis oil four times a day to fight the illness. His mother Wendy said:
We thought, “Well, why not try?” And it worked!
I’d rather be illegally alive than legally dead.

The teen’s cannabis oil treatment was highlighted at the National Jewish Health’s Marijuana and Health Symposium. Ken Gershman with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment told CBS Denver:
We are very proud of this program in terms of the potential.
Many researchers believe that cannabis oil can be used to treat a number of illnesses, which mainstream pharmaceuticals cannot deal with. Wendy Turner said:
We want people to understand that this is a good option.
The Marijuana and Health Symposium aims to help both health care providers and the public to learn about the latest research into medical marijuana.
