Abandoned By His Mother, A Paralyzed Kitten Zips Around In A Lego Wheelchair.

Abandoned by his mother and rescued from the street, a paralyzed kitten is learning how to move again with the help of a homemade wheelchair made out of pieces from a Lego set.

The kitten was brought into the Massapequa Pet Vet in a macaroni and cheese box by the good Samaritan who found him.

They named him, quite fittingly, Mac and Cheese and vet technicians worked together to create a set of wheels for him out of Legos to help the kitten move around.

And here are the highlights:

The five-week-old kitten tested out turns and raced around the halls of Massapequa Pet Vet, much to the joy of the animal technicians who created the wheelchair out of a few connecting pieces.

When Mac’s rescuer realized his legs didn’t work, the kitten was placed inn an empty macaroni and cheese carton and taken to the animal hospital.

The vet is giving Mac and Cheese daily physical therapy in a pool and the kitten gets mental exercise thanks to iPad games. The kitten will eventually be available for adoption but for now he’s getting stronger every day.

Mac and Cheese quickly learned that he had a need for speed, whizzing around on his new set of wheels and relishing his newfound mobility.

Veterinarians soon discovered Mac was partially paralyzed in his back legs. But as soon as he got his wheelchair, Mac turned into a speed racer and “totally took off” (sometimes into walls).

The wheelchair could be the first step of physical therapy in getting Mac’s legs ready to move again.

Mac’s legs are not broken and there doesn’t seem to be a physical reason they currently won’t work.
