An Elderly Woman BITES A German Shepherd To Stop It From Killing Her Terrier.

An elderly woman has revealed how she tried to rescue her Yorkshire Terrier by biting a German Shepherd who attacked it.

June Hatton, 80, was walking her pet Yorkshire Terrier Milly in Ipplepen, Devon, England, when a German Shepherd pounced on them, biting the Yorkie by the neck.

Unable to separate the two dogs, Mrs. Hatton bit the aggressor, hoping that it would relent. Unfortunately, despite her best efforts Milly was mauled to death and the mother-of-four was left only with German Shepherd hair in her mouth.

1. June Hatton, 80, bit a German Shepherd that was attacking her pet terrier in the hopes of saving it.

Speaking of the moment she bit the dog, the 80-year-old said:

I bit him through instinct — and I would definitely do the same again.

The grandmother was walking her pet in her quiet village when the German Shepherd came out of nowhere and immediately pounced on the tiny terrier, biting it by the neck, as the horrified pensioner looked on.

2. Milly the Yorkshire Terrier was killed in the encounter, with the larger German Shepherd puncturing its neck.

The dog owner described the scene:

The Alsatian [German Shepherd] had its jaws so tightly around my dog’s neck and just would not let her go.

It happened so quickly that I did not really have the time to think.

I fell to the ground and I tried to bite the dog but all I had was a mouth full of hair. If I had a knife then I would have stabbed it.

3. The grandmother, whose mouth is filled mostly with dentures, said she bit the other dog out of instinct.

At length, the 80-year-old pulled the attacker off her pet, but by that time Milly had already stopped breathing.

Since the incident, the authorities have learned that the German Shepherd had escaped from its home through an open gate.

The aggressor’s owners have since apologized to the victim’s owner for the attack and have signed a Voluntary Control Order notice, in which they have promised to have the dog muzzled when it is in public.

4. Mrs. Hatton said she would have done anything to save the dog which she’d had for more than four years.

The grandmother had had the Yorkie for more than four years after adopting her from a rescue center. She said:

Milly was a feisty little thing, that’s Yorkshire terriers for you, but I loved her, she had a good character.

We went everywhere together and spent all our time together.
