This dog was repeatedly burned and beaten before being abandoned by his owner who is now being searched for by the authorities in San Francisco.
San Francisco Animal Care and Control, which is caring for the dog, has released pictures but his condition is too precarious for others to be allowed to see him and film a video, ABC 7 reports.
Police officers are now canvassing the area where the dog was found, in hopes of quickly solving the crime. (Scroll down for the video.)
1. This dog was repeatedly burned and beaten before being abandoned by his owner who is now being searched for by the authorities in San Francisco.
The young dog was found by a public works crew early on Thursday morning. He was tied up and near death. Animal Care and Control later named him Maximilian.
Maximilian’s injuries are sickening. Virginia Donohue, director of San Francisco Animal Care and Control, described them:
Larger burns and cigarette burns look to us to be older injuries. The blunt force trauma, the damage to his internal organs has to be very recent.
Maximilian is currently being treated but he may not make it, which only makes stronger animal control’s desire to find the perpetrator.
Police are looking through hours of surveillance video and are distributing flyers. A reward of $500 is also being offered, in hopes of a lead.
San Francisco Animal Care and Control Capt. Denise Bongiovanni said:
Working in this field, this is the very thing we commit ourselves to preventing and addressing and it affects us all to see what this dog went through.
2. Authorities in San Francisco are asking for the public’s help in bringing a dog abuser to justice.
