Eight female puppies were found inside a bag of dog food on Thursday morning, dumped by the roadside in Houston, Texas. They were picked up by a good Samaritan and taken to a local vet.
The puppies were promptly named after Santa’s eight reindeer Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen and may even be able to fly to their new homes in time for Christmas. David Cradic from North Houston Veterinary Specialists told KHOU.com:
All eight puppies are very healthy. They’re happy hungry, eating well.
The dogs are believed to be Australian Shepherd and Rottweiler mixes. They were rescued near Willowbrook Mall by an unidentified man, after he heard them whimpering.
The puppies are about to be transferred to the Abandoned Animal Rescue shelter and will remain in foster care for several weeks before being put up for adoption. After hearing their story, dozens of people have already expressed interest in adopting the puppies. (Scroll down for the video report.)
