These are not Hollywood actors or something like that. No, these fearsome faces belong to real-life people — the Konyaks whose long and illustrious headhunting history continued well into the 1960s and are still found in large numbers in Nagaland, India.
The stunning pictures below of the last surviving Konyak warriors were taken by photographer Jean-Christian Cottu who warns that it is only a matter of time — 10 – 15 years at most — before nature takes its due and the last headhunters disappear for eternity, taking their unique culture as they move on. So consider yourself privileged to still be able to see their faces.
