This Hiker Is About To Fall Off The Edge Of A Bottomless Canyon… Or Is He? Wait Til You Find Out What’s Going On.

The image below has captured the moment when a hiker is walking — rather carelessly — just inches away from the edge of a canyon whose bottom cannot be seen. Yet, he looks so nonchalant. Well, it turns out that this is actually an optical illusion captured by a photographer who’s paying attention to the details. The “canyon” turns out to be… a pool of water!

Darrell Staggs entered his image into The National Park Foundation’s (the official charity of America’s national parks) “Share the Experience” photo contest, but, amazingly, it wasn’t good enough to win it. The Grand Prize Winner went instead to Courtney Kotewa (#2) who photographed a family kayaking trip along the shore of Lake Superior in northern Michigan using her smart phone.
