A heavily pregnant woman took on a group of anti-abortion protesters demonstrating outside a London health clinic and ignited a firestorm of controversy all over social media as the video of the confrontation went viral in a huge way.
The confrontation came as a worker for Blackfriars Medical Practice — a GP surgery offering abortion services in London — asked Abort67 members to stop filming at the clinic’s entrance to protect patient confidentiality. Abort67 denied filming patients going in and out of the surgery and said that they were using their cameras to provide evidence against people accusing them of bullying tactics. But one pregnant passer-by was not convinced and told them:
You are wrong in what you’re doing. You don’t know why people are doing what they’re doing, but you want to be out here judging and then filming.
One of the Abort67 protesters replied that she had an abortion in the past, but the pregnant woman would have none of it and called her a hypocrite. She added:
You had an abortion but because you’re not happy with what you’re doing, you’re standing out here making other people feel guilty. When you had an abortion, that was your choice. Many people have been abused, you don’t know what their reasons are for, so I think this is so wrong on so many levels.
And on she went — here is the full three-minute face-off (the pregnant woman starts speaking at around 1:12 min.):
1. A pregnant woman criticizes anti-abortion group Abort67 outside Blackfriars Medical Practice in London.
2. The pregnant woman tells the protesters that women should have a choice.
3. As the lady walks away, the protesters remained in front of the clinic.
The episode was captured on camera by journalist Sunny Hundal who was outside the clinic.
