As he looks into the camera, you become uncomfortably aware of his blood-curdling, soul-piercing gaze. You also understand why this feline is now taking the internet by storm.
Say hi to Atchoum the cat, whose terrifying glare is all over social media. The nine-month-old feline, who lives with his owner Nathalie in Quebec, Canada, suffers from a condition called hypertrichosis, which causes an abnormal amount of hair to grow on his body.
Nathalie takes daily pictures of her pet, whose name translates to “Sneezy” in English, before uploading them on Atchoum’s dedicated Facebook and Instagram pages. (Scroll through for all the images and the video.)
Despite his intimidating gaze and disheveled looks, Atchoum is actually a cuddly, “loving” pet who enjoys doing the usual feline things, according to Nathalie.
He is, for example, interested in watching TV, playing Cat Playground on Nathalie’s Ipad, rummaging in the fridge for food, messing around in the bath and taking naps just as often as he can.
Hypertrichosis, which is the result of a hormonal issues, also affects humans. It can either affect the whole body or just a particular area. The condition can also either be present at birth of acquired later in life.
