Permanently frowning feline Pompous Albert is the latest sour cat to become an internet sensation and a veritable challenger to the biggest scowler of them all — Grumpy Cat.
A Salt Lake City resident, the grey feline with tufty hair and a permanent scowl has already gathered a remarkable 44.8K followers on Instagram.
Thanks to his wild locks — a trademark of his breed — Selkirk Rex cat Albert was named after his famous lookalike — Albert Einstein.
Albert’s Instagram account shows him in various situations, invariably frowning and glaring at the camera, with his feline brow always furrowed disapprovingly.
The hit account is run by Albert’s owners Mike and Susan Singleton in Salt Lake City, Utah, who’ve penned his byline, which reads:
Rejected show cat, but I’ll show them.
Each image of the displeased cat is accompanied by a sarcastic description, giving the feline a sinister and funny internal dialogue.
One picture, in which Albert glares fiercely into the camera reads:
I’m not grumpy or angry, I’m just smarter and better looking than you.
Another has the caption:
Albert’s Office Tip: This is the look you give a boss who wants you to work over the weekend.
Albert is the latest scowling cat to become a social media sensation, after a feline with a kind of dwarfism which gives her a permanently displeased expression found global fame as Grumpy Cat.
One picture has caught Albert rummaging through the garbage, defiantly staring at the camera.
Another shows him with his paw placed ominously on the tail of his toy cat, staring straight down the camera.
Albert’s sulky disposition, combined with his fluffy poodle-like fur, has quickly made him a mini-celebrity.
One Instagram fan commented:
Pure unbridled hate pours out of this cat’s eyes.
Another agreed, adding:
He looks like a real life Disney Villain.
Another joke about his “b**** resting face” and one wrote:
I love his scowl!
