Michael Moore’s Solution: Disarm The Police, Free Non-Violent Black Prisoners.

Filmmaker Michael Moore is demanding that the U.S. disarm its police and release all incarcerated African-Americans who are jailed for drug crimes or non-violent offenses.

Moore launched his social media offensive with a series of tweets early on Thursday morning. He charged local police officers with being militarized and stated that the founding fathers didn’t want army policing on U.S. soil.

The polarizing filmmaker also blamed “a modern day slave system” for the incarceration of large numbers of African-Americans and poor white Americans.

Though he doesn’t state it explicitly, Moore’s list of demands were apparently a response to the controversy surrounding the death of Freddie Gray, the 25-year-old black man who died from injuries to his spinal cord while in police custody in Baltimore.

Following Gray’s death, riots broke out in Baltimore, with portions of the city getting burned, stores looted and a number of police officers injured.

Hundreds of people have been arrested so far, as the governor put the National Guard in the streets and the city of Baltimore imposed a curfew to curb the violence.
