A Greenwood, Arkansas, K-9 police dog, who went missing during a gunfight which killed a Sheriff’s Office corporal on Wednesday was found alive, but wounded on Friday morning.
K-9 Kina was found in a yard about two miles from the scene of the shooting, Greenwood police reported.
The K-9 was immediately taken to Cornerstone Veterinary Clinic to be treated after she was shot twice and found with bullet entrance and exit wounds to her neck and back.

X-rays revealed that some bullet fragments were still lodged in Kina’s body.
The veterinarian told the police that had the K-9 been shot two inches lower on one of the wounds, she would not have survived. Kina is also dehydrated, but is receiving fluids.
Kina is now doing well and is expected to make a full recovery. Vets are monitoring her closely and treating her wounds.
When Kina was found, she trotted to her handler, Cpl. Dennis Wisner, and the two went to the vet together. The K-9 was still wearing her bullet-proof vest when she was found.
