Hollywood star and Through The Wormhole host Morgan Freeman has made a plea for legalizing marijuana in an interview, claiming that “pot is very useful”.
Freeman, 77, said he is a longtime user who took to the drug with his first wife “many years ago”. He said:
I’ll eat it, drink it, smoke it, snort it! This movement is really a long time coming, and it’s getting legs, longer legs.

The Oscar-winning actor suffered injuries in a car accident seven years ago which still cause pain, according to The Daily Beast.
Freeman was driving through Mississippi when his car skidded off the road and turned over several times.
Emergency responders rescued the star from the crash using the Jaws of Life and Freeman was taken to the hospital with a shattered left shoulder, arm and elbow. His nerves had to be reconstructed with grueling a four-hour surgery.
The actor still wears a yellow compression glove on his left hand, of which he hasn’t regained full use, in order to prevent blood pooling.
2. Freeman has been public about his marijuana smoking in many interviews. Pictured here he is smoking a cigar in a film with Keanu Reeves.
Pointing to his compression glove, Freeman told Marlow Stern, The Daily Beast interviewer, that “marijuana has many useful uses”. He added:
I have fibromyalgia pain in this arm, and the only thing that offers any relief is marijuana.
They’re talking about kids who have grand mal seizures, and they’ve discovered that marijuana eases that down to where these children can have a life.
That right there, to me, says, “Legalize it across the board!”

Freeman told Stern:
And what negative effects does it have? Look at Woodstock 1969. They said, “We’re not going to bother them or say anything about smoking marijuana”, and not one problem or fight.
Then look at what happened in ’99.
That was a reference to the less marijuana-friendly 30th-anniversary event, which featured riots and arrests.
Despite his hand injury, the actor’s star is still shining in Hollywood, having taken part in at least four films in 2013 and 2014.
Freeman’s first film appearance of 2015, Last Knights, debuted in April.
