One good man proved that it really doesn’t take all that much to make a big difference in someone else’s life. Noticing that a homeless man loves reading, he gave him a Kindle with over 300 books on it.
The Good Samaritan, who is from San Diego man, but has asked to remain anonymous, takes frequent business trips to Las Vegas where he often sees a homeless man reading the same book repeatedly.
During his latest visit, the man decided to speak with the man, called Paul, about his book and soon learned that he loved to read, but only had one book.
1. Paul told the man that he loved to read books, but unfortunately he only had one book to read.
The anonymous Samaritan told The Huffington Post:
I just asked him if he liked to read. He said he loved to but that he had been reading that one book over and over for a while now.
In a heartwarming gesture of kindness, the man gave the Kindle he was carrying in his bag to Paul and taught him how to use it. It soon became apparent just how much Paul enjoyed using his new Amazon e-reader.
The Samaritan then took a picture of Paul and his new Kindle, which he shared on Reddit on Thursday under the username, mjuad. The caption read:
I gave this homeless man, Paul, my Kindle after learning that he’d been reading the same book over and over. He hasn’t put it down for days.
The image itself immediately went viral, getting two million views. The San Diego man said:
It brought me a lot of joy to see someone getting so much from something that I gave them. It feels so good to see someone get so much for something I took for granted.
2. The man took a picture of Paul and his new Kindle and shared it on Reddit.
The Kindle is already stocked with more than 300 books and, in another kind gesture, the man gave Paul an address where he could send the e-reader, cash on delivery, if he needs more reading material. He said:
If I can keep someone from going hungry for a day or brighten their day/life up in any way, I always try to do my best. I’m also hoping that by sharing this, I will encourage others to do something kind as well.
And he has proved that it really doesn’t take much to make a difference in someone’s life.
