The soccer World Cup is quickly gathering pace and we already have some big upsets. Spain and England have each lost their first two games and are out of the tournament — much earlier than anticipated.
But there is another competition in Brazil that is heating up and it is being waged in the stadiums’ stands. Fans are doing their best to outdo their opponents in the face-painting competition. Sometimes, however, it can be a bit challenging for the casual observer to identify the fans’ allegiance by their face paint. You can test your own ability to tell them apart below.
1. Football fans who have descended on Brazil for the World Cup have entered into the country’s famous carnival spirit using face paints to show which nation they are getting behind.
2. Their vibrant faces are often teamed with even more colorful hats or wigs, with the rule seeming to be the bigger and brighter the better.
3. But it is not just the male supporters getting swept up in World Cup fever, female supporters are also keen to nail their colors to their faces.
4. The teams some of the supporters are getting behind are instantly recognizable, but with 32 teams taking part, others are a little more difficult to work out.
