A video showing a teacher breaking up a soon-to-be-fight between two of his students has gone viral in a big way and for a good reason — it demonstrates what one person can achieve when he understands and accepts his responsibilities as a teacher and the vital role he plays in the lives of his students.
The footage shows us a student walking up to and challenging a much bigger child in the classroom. The size disparity has attracted much attention, but the really important thing is what the teacher does when he sees that. As the two students start yelling at each other, the teacher steps in and yells:
You’re always are pissing me off… Shut up and sit down… If you don’t take that mess over there right now… RIGHT NOW! It’s not like you’re gonna push through me to get to him, you ain’t.
And the kids just do what he tells them to do. I mean, this is awesome! And viewers love it. One commenter writes:
Great teacher right there, after he’s done with his speech, right back to work.
Here is the video:
Another viewer recalls his or her own school years:
I had a teacher like that. He was an old guy who didn’t take people’s crap but if you were good to him, he was good to you. He was one of those people you either love or hate and I loved that guy. He pushed every single one of his students to do well. He cared for his students and wanted us to succeed. If someone was screwing around, he called them out at that moment be it in class or in a hallway, nobody got away with doing anything stupid, not handing in work, not showing up to class or showing up late, disrespecting anybody in any way (that was always my favourite. He had absolutely ZERO tolerance for any kind of disrespect and he called people out all the time. I may or may not have been ‘spoken to’ in front of the class once). I definitely had huge respect for him and still do.
Most other commenters are equally impressed.
1. The two students square off, yelling at each other.
2. At this point the teacher steps in and shouts: “Shut up and sit down… If you don’t take that mess over there right now… RIGHT NOW! It’s not like you’re gonna push through me to get to him, you ain’t.”
