The Cobra Which Terrorized A Houston Apartment Building Is Captured.

An aggressive two-foot-long cobra has been captured at a luxury high-rise apartment complex in Houston on Saturday.

The terrorized residents of the luxury Rice Lofts in downtown Houston spoke of their chance meeting with the venomous reptile as something straight out of an Indiana Jones movie.

However, while the cobra has now been captured and euthanized, residents fear that other venomous snakes might be lurking around the corner. (Scroll down for the video.)

Speaking to KHOU, Rice Lofts resident Ethan Shear said:

It was sort of just hanging out in the middle of the hallway. It had raised its head a little bit like you would see in Indiana Jones or something. Enough to know I should not go near that.

Shear was among the small group of residents who chanced to be passing on Saturday as the snake slithered its way across their apartment’s carpeted hallways.

A number of residents gathered to look at the venomous creature and take a few pictures and video. Resident Colby Lewis joked:

Somebody said something along the lines of “Well, have you ever heard of a spitting cobra before?” And then we all kind of walked away.

The building’s owner, who has not made any comments on the cobra reports, reportedly called the police and a pest control company to help dispose of the snake.

4. The snake was caught but police are now following up on rumors about a former resident who owned a cobra and was asked to leave the building. The suggestions have left residents concerned that another snake might be lurking around the corner.

Meanwhile, there have been question about just how accidental the reptile’s escape could have been. Jarrad Mears, Division Manager for Animal Control for BARC, said:

We’ve heard from other residents that there was another resident who resided at that apartment months ago that did have a cobra in his possession and he was asked to leave, so that’s what we’re following up on right now.

Police are now looking into the cobra escape and Rice Lofts residents say they’ll be on the lookout for any other scaly critters lurking in the shadows. Lewis told KHOU:

We’ll be much more diligent.
