A Florida woman was arrested after she was seen throwing kittens out of her SUV while driving down a highway around 11.45 am on Friday morning.
Santa Rosa County police said that a witness reported seeing Veronica Gordon, 39, throwing four small kittens out of her black Infinity SUV’s window while cruising on Highway 87.
The witness reported seeing the kittens being thrown out of both the driver and passenger-side windows, The Northwest Florida Daily News reported.
1. Veronica Gordon (pictured), 39, is facing animal cruelty charges for throwing four small kittens out of her black Infinity SUV’s window while cruising down a highway.
The witness reported that one of the kitten “grabbed on to the passenger-side door in an attempt not to fall” and succeeded for “several seconds” before eventually letting go.
Police said that Gordon was crying as she confessed to the authorities and was charged with felony animal cruelty.
According to The Pensacola News Journal, the kittens are seven-weeks old.
Only one of the felines has been recovered and it was in a poor state when it was found by police.
2. Deputies say a witness reported seeing Gordon throwing four small kittens alongside Highway 87 in Florida (pictured).
The recovered kitten has been taken to a vet and its condition is unknown.
The other three kittens thrown out of the SUV are still missing.
Judging by the kittens’ age and size, it is unlikely that they will survive, the police report states.
Veronica Gordon is being held on a $5,000 bond and if convicted, she could be fined up to $10,000 and be imprisoned for up to five years.
