A hapless South African burglar was captured on surveillance camera trying to get into a house, but instead running into, and chased away by, a four-pound Yorkshire Terrier. It was the criminal’s worst fear, as he suffers from cynophobia — an abnormal fear of dogs.
In the 42-second video, taken on 13 November, the burglar is captured snooping around the backyard of a house. Then he briefly goes out of frame, before coming out three seconds later, sprinting across the yard and over the wooden fence trying desperately to get away from a puny Yorkshire Terrier.
The sound is off, but terrier seems to be barking furiously as he chases the criminal off of his territory. As the burglar clears the fence, the tiny dog is seen indulging in what can only be a victory dance.
Opposing Views reports that the burglar was arrested four days after his bungled break-in.
Since being uploaded just two days ago, the video has attracted more than 700,000 views on YouTube and about a million views on Reddit, where it was also posted.
