I am not quite sure whether the French Bulldog in this video realizes that this deer is not playing a game with her. And I know that the dog’s owner doesn’t realize that. I mean, she says it in the video’s title — French Bulldog plays with Buck…
The owner in question is YouTube user Jamie-Rae Fifield. She gives us some more details:
This is Ellie-Mae, my 3 year old French Bulldog, playing with a young buck in our backyard in Wellington, Nova Scotia. They played for about 30 minutes before I took this video.
So, I hate to be the bearer of bad news here, but the deer means business here and if he had managed to catch up with Ellie-Mae (a big “if”), he would have gored her with his antlers and that would have been it for the dog. And I really don’t understand what else the deer should have done to make Jamie-Rae Fifield get it.
Now, I see in the comments that quite a few people out there are sharing Jamie-Rae Fifield‘s view of the two animals “playing” with each other. Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion, so I will let you judge for yourself — share your thoughts in the comments below.
Don’t get me wrong, though — I had a lot of fun watching this video and had no doubt that the deer was no match for the French Bulldog. Nor could she hurt the deer, so it was fun. But this was no play, it was serious.
And here are a few GIFs and still images of the encounter:
