So I thought that the story of the emaciated dog who was saved for a certain and cruel death in Florida would be the best animal story for the day — and it was a great story. But this one really made my day and not because it is more dramatic — it isn’t — but because it has a positive impact on many more dogs.
It turns out that there is a company in Turkey called Pugedon which has come up with a creative and effective way to feed Istanbul’s numerous stray dogs. Pugedon has designed a vending machine which takes bottles for recycling and gives back food for the city’s dogs.
To make things even better, the operation turns out to make business sense, too — the profit from the collected recycled bottles is sufficient to cover the cost of the dog food and there is something left for profit.
And there is certainly a lot of demand for what the Pugedon vending machines have to offer — according to some estimates there are as many as 150,000 in Istanbul. So, there you have it and I do hope that Pugedon’s idea catches on in Turkey and it spreads around the world, too. (Scroll down for the video.)

2. This machine helps them out by giving people an opportunity to feed them.
3. When they recycle their bottles, the machine dispenses food for the strays.
4. It also has a water bowl if you don’t want your water anymore.
5. Kids love it, too.
6. Dogs have quickly figured it out.
And here is the video:
Share this great idea with your friends below — hopefully it will spread to other places that need such vending machines.
