This Little Boy Completes A Triathlon To Help His Suffering Brother… Carrying Him Along!

This is the most touching story I’ve come across in a long time and I am happy to share it with you. Lucas Aldrich is a six-year-old boy with a rare neurological condition which has left him unable to walk or talk. The boy was born with lissencephaly, which means that he is missing the normal folds and wrinkles in his brain’s cerebral cortex. This is a rare condition which can cause seizures, difficulty swallowing and other serious health problems. It can also result in a shortened life span.

Well, Lucas’ brother, eight-year-old Noah, suggested that the two complete a kids’ triathlon together and they did! Noah pulled Lucas for 200 meters in a boat, then cycled for three miles with him behind him in a stroller and finally pushed him in a dinghy for a mile as he ran.

Their father, Brian, told KTVB:

hey definitely have a special bond, the two of them. You see Lucas light up so much when Noah enters the room. It just brings a smile to your face when you see the love between the boys.

Here is what Noah himself says about his little brother:

I like everything about him, he’s perfect.

Recently, the family heard about a YMCA Kids Club Program and a kids’ triathlon and Noah immediately decided to do it. His mom Alissa said:

He said, “Mom, I want to do this with my brother”. That’s where the idea was born and I think the next day we started training.

For the next three months the brothers trained in running — with Noah pushing Lucas in a stroller — and swimming — with Noah pulling Lucas in a boat — and cycling — with Lucas placed in a stroller on the back of his Noah’s bike.

When the day arrived, Noah admitted to feeling a bit nervous, but he put in a tremendous effort and carried his brother across the finish line as everyone cheered. JRN reported that the brothers completed the race in just over 54 minutes.

Their mother Alissa said:

It was really exciting to watch them and a little nerve wracking as parents, but they did so good and we’re proud of them.
