This Must Be The Most Absurd Contraption Ever… But It’s Also So Cool, I Love It.

So, who would have thought that anyone would come up with such a ludicrous idea? I mean, bolting an old-fashioned (or should I say classic?) mechanical typewriter onto a modern day computer? Come on, that can’t be serious, can it?

Well, it is very serious, actually. It is called Qwerkywriter and the company behind it is looking for money on Kickstarter. The man behind it is game developer Brian Min who gave the contraption 84 chrome-accented round keycaps, so that it looks totally vintage, and the thing comes with an integrated stand for tablets.

The idea, needless to say, is that the Qwerkywriter (somehow I think it could benefit from a name change) would appeal to people who aren’t quite ready to consign the past to, well, the past. It’s yet to be seen how well the idea will work in practice. (Scroll down for the videos.)
