This One Must Be The Most Perfectly Shaped Chocolate Cake. And Yes, I Do Want A Piece Of It…

You will love this one, I promise you, especially the chocolate lovers among you, although by the end of this post you will be left craving for a piece of a perfectly shaped chocolate cake… I know I am. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

So, what you are about to witness in the images and video that follow is the collaboration between the team at Studio Wieki Somers and chocolatier Rafael Mutter. Together, they created the appropriately named Chocolate Mill.

The one-of-a-kind mill consists of a giant cylindrical chocolate block which is carefully organized in 10 perfectly stacked layers. Flavored shapes are used to create various geometric patterns.

Then the fun begins. A big blade, which looks like a pizza slicer, is position on the top of the chocolate block, barely touching its surface. Then it is turned around in such a way that it grazes shavings off the top of the block, revealing the hidden layers as it turns. You will see it at work in the video below. I do want my slice, though! (Scroll down for the video.)
