Watch: An Owl Goes For A Swim In Lake Michigan.

A photographer has captured some truly remarkable footage while taking pictures at Loyola Park Beach in Rogers Park. He filmed a great horned owl swimming in Lake Michigan. Yes, incredible as it sounds, the owl was swimming.

Photographer Steve Spitzer told WGNTV that he was birdwatching and taking pictures with a friend when he noticed something extraordinary take place in the water in Lake Michigan.

A bird he quickly identified as a great horned owl was swimming in the lake and neither of them could believe their eyes. Spitzer said that he saw the owl come under attack by two peregrine falcons earlier. The owl then headed for the water and dived in, so it could escape the attackers.
