November is the Manatee Awareness Month and Save the Manatee Club is rolling out a new educational program to raise awareness and to help create a new generation of manatee conservationists.
During the winter months, hundreds of manatees gather at the Blue Spring State Park in Orange City, Florida, which flows to the St. Johns River. That is where the Manatee Club runs its new program to gather information about the species.
Manatees are vulnerable to cold stress, which is why these sub-tropical marine mammals look for the refuge of warm-water springs.
Happy manatee awareness month!
