Watch The Shocking Scene Of A New Jersey Catholic School Students Dressing As A Monkey And A Banana To Taunt The Opposing Team’s Black Players.

Students at a New Jersey Catholic high school have been filmed dressing up as a monkey and a banana to taunt the opposing team’s black players at a basketball game and have not been punished for it.

The two seniors from Holy Spirit High School have been caught on camera screaming from the sidelines, as their classmates played against Atlantic City, whose team is predominantly black.

Numerous complaints have since been filed, but the students have so far got away with warnings. (Scroll down for the video.)

Jay Connell, athletic director at Holy Spirit, told The Press Of Atlantic City:

I am not going to kick anyone out of school or whip anybody.

All I can do is apologize; I can’t take it back.

There is no punishment. The punishment is that it will be an event that will not happen again, and that is the punishment for Holy Spirit.

The NBC reports that a female student dressed as a cowgirl was also involved in the act and added that Holy Spirit’s own starting line-up was also mostly black.

2. Despite numerous complaints, the students were simply issued with warnings.

Atlantic City’s athletic director Anthony Nistico told Philly.com:

What I am appalled at is there are adults there that let this happen.

Mr. Nistico added that the students hid behind a shower curtain (which you can see in the video below) and jumped out, evidently in an attempt to scare the opposing team as they played. He said:

These two students were allowed to walk into the gym in these costumes and with this shower curtain. What were the adults thinking? Where were the refs?

Incredibly, a poll conducted by The Press Of Atlantic City on its website found that 50.3 percent of respondents felt the students shouldn’t be punished, as many students dressed up for the event.

For what it’s worth, Atlantic City beat Holy Spirit 54-53.
